Since childhood, music has always given me the feelings and emotions that I never had. It feels different when you listen to depressive love ballads, happy and solemn odes, or melancholic guitar songs over 19 years. While I was writing this article, I realized that music has a tremendous power of connecting native souls and helping to live and move on, despite all problems that slow them down. In this essay, I would like to discuss the meaning of music in our life.
Having only 7 notes, music has a strong effect on listeners. Music can help us to understand what emotions certain artists experience while creating their songs. They also share the song’s background. For some times the backstory of a track can be a spontaneous case or as a part of the daily working process in a professional studio. For example, while coming up with the idea of an iconic and timeless song called “Yesterday”, one of the founders of the legendary rock band “The Beatles” Paul McCartney started playing the piano and searching for a melodic motive. After a few minutes of mumbling some words, the song got a working name “The Scrambled Egg” because the lyrics about loving scrambled eggs and legs of woman was the first original variant. Wasting several days or even months of continuous recordings and work on the final version of the song, “Yesterday” was released in 1965 as a part of the album “Help” and became one of the best rock ballads of mankind.
It becomes clear that music has a huge influence on people’s emotions. Nevertheless, can we claim that music will affect the health of humans? Looks like yes! Since the ancient period, the scientists of that time could explain the power of musical tones and sounds. Ancient Greek physicians used music to relax, improve sleep quality and relieve pain. Scientists of the American Society for the Study of Hypertension also noticed that classical music such as the composer Wolfgang Mozart can reduce blood pressure in organisms. On the other hand, listening permanently to music like heavy metal or rock in most cases will affect arrhythmia, which is very dangerous for life. Based on this, we can say that the importance of music in our life is considerable, if we talk about health and mental conditions.
In conclusion, the meaning of music is invaluable in our life. Since ancient times, it has been proven that music positively affects health and helps to stabilize the mental state, and awakens our emotions and feelings so that they pass through us. We usually do not notice it, but after all, music is one of the most important things that has the tangible power of connecting people.
